Stitching We Use
We use an off-the-arm chain stitch machine to produce a double lap stitch for the seams. This is the same stitch that you see on the inside seam of most jean pants. It is durable and will last for many years. This stitch is also used on the hems and straps of the lavvu. The stitch thread is the only part of the lavvu that uses synthetic polyester material to keep the stitching strong and durable.

For the joining seams, we use a lap stitch (no pun intended) so that water will not seep under the fabric and drip in side the lavvu. The straps and hems are also double stitched to withstand the heavy stresses that the lavvu may face from fierce winds.
