Karen Pedersdatter
(c.1614-c.1670)
Karen was most likely the daughter of Peder Oelsønn (c.1590-c.1662, see 'Early Sandvigen Line') and inherited the Sandvigen farm from him. Considering the patriarchal naming system and that her sons' last name was Olsøn, Karen's husband's first name would have been Ole. This Ole probably died before Karen's father did in c.1662 since his name has yet to be found in the tax records. Karen's birth year of c.1614 was estimated by her sons' birth year (Thomiss Olssøn 1634 and Issak Olsøn 1654), as their ages were recorded in the 1666 census. Karen was one of the few women mentioned in the 1666 census (but not her age) and was stated as a widowed farm owner. Karen died c.1670 and Issak thereafter took over Karen's share of the Sandvigen farm.
Giving consideration to Anne Margete Samsonsdatter's (c.1747-?) weaker lineage with her father, Karen is the earliest confirmed ancestor in this work.
