Issak Olsøn
(1654-c.1690)
Issak is the second known son of Karen Pedersdatter (c.1614-c.1670). In the 1666 census, he is mistakenly stated as the son of Thomiss Olssøn (1634/41->1701) rather than his brother, and it is presumed that this listing in the registers was a confusion between the close listing of Karen and Thomis' name on the same vertical line. In this census, he is stated as 12 years old, but this age is suspect since Issak apparently inherited Karen's share of the Sandvigen farm c.1670 at the age of sixteen as he is stated in the 1670 tax rolls. This age would have been far too young for anyone to be confirmed (eight-teen to twenty-one is the average for this area) much less inheriting a farm. If this was his accurate age, there would have been a male relative that would have adopted him.
Issak was not stated in the 1701 census and Thomiss Olssøn was described as the sole owner of the entire Sandvigen farm. There were no other Issak Olsøn's stated in the 1701 census and it is presummed that Issak either left the parish or, more likely, died sometime between 1689 and 1701 with Thomiss inheriting his share of the farm.
Issak is not listed in the Kvæfjordboka.
