Cotton Duck
We have replace the denim material with new cotton duck! Duck is a stronger material with a tighter weave that will be far more water and mildew resistant than regular denim.

Our cotton duck lavvus has all the same perperties as denim, it is made of 100% natural undyed cotton, the same material used in most jean pants and jackets but without the blue dye. With proper care, your cotton duck lavvu will last for many years and will withstand normal weather conditions. This material is the equivalent of 13-14 ounce canvas and has a much tighter weave than regular canvas. There are several advantages in using cotton duck for tents:

1) It is a natural fabric that breaths well;
2) It is naturally fire resistant under normal use;
3) Duck is 100% cotton and is machine washable;
4) Duck holds up well under ultra-violet sunlight, and;
5) Duck provides a modest amount of insulation for warmth.
6) A Duck lavvu has the same feel and texture as you denim jeans which adds to the atmosphere inside the lavvu.

Natural cotton duck is the best fabric to use under the following conditions:

1) If you use your lavvu just for a temporary camping structure, spending no more than a few days in one place.
2) If you live in a drier environment such as west of the Mississippi River.

The disadvantages of natural cotton duck is that if the lavvu is stored in a damp condition the cotton duck will attract mildew and will spot the tent.
